Fulltime Pedagogical Eurythmist, beginning September 2008

Highland Hall is seeking a fulltime eurythmist for grades K – 7. This position includes five 15-20 minute classes in our nursery and kindergarten, and thirteen 45-minute classes in our first through seventh grades each week. Our lower school students have had eurythmy in the past and their developed interest has carried into a strong high school eurythmy program. Our ideal candidate will be able to continue successfully nurturing this interest in eurythmy for our students. Class teachers may also ask the eurythmy teacher to work with their classes, adding movement to plays or other assembly performances. There are opportunities to work with both our high school eurythmy teacher (who also teaches several classes, including high school art) and our therapeutic eurythmist. One such opportunity is our eurythmy assemblies for the lower school and the high school, usually held once a year.

Our classes are held in a designated eurythmy room with a sprung floor, performance curtains, and audience seating. We have a grand piano and a pianist to accompany all classes. Our community supports eurythmy performances; opportunities exist to work with both local and visiting eurythmists. We are located near Los Angeles, a vibrant and diverse center for all of the arts, with outdoor activities year-round. Full-time base salaries start at $40,000 with yearly experience increases; our benefits are thorough, including medical, dental and life insurance, tuition remission, retirement benefits with school-funded contributions, relocation assistance, and financial assistance with support for right-to-work paperwork (e.g. H1-B processing) and professional development workshops/conferences.

To apply, please send a resume, a letter of interest detailing your Waldorf and teaching experiences, and three professional references. We look forward to hearing from you!
